What 2023 Has Taught Me

Reflecting on a Year of Growth: Lessons from 2023

Hello everyone! As I wrap up the final episode of 2023, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've been on together. I'll be taking a short break until mid-January to recharge and reflect, but before I do, I want to share some of the lessons I've learned this year.

Celebrating Transformations

Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting some former clients who were celebrating their one-year home anniversary. Witnessing their incredible transformations over the past year has been truly inspiring. It's moments like these that remind me of my own growth and changes over the past year. I want to express my deepest gratitude to all of you, my listeners, for your unwavering support throughout this journey. I encourage you to share our podcast with others who may need a little inspiration in their lives.

Setting Extraordinary Goals

One of the most valuable lessons I've learned this year is the importance of setting extraordinary goals. This is a concept I've come to understand through coaching. While I didn't reach my extraordinary goal this year, I've learned so much and achieved more than I ever imagined.

The first lesson I want to share is the importance of living to impress yourself, not others. It's easy to fall into the trap of seeking external validation, but I encourage you to have your own back and not constantly seek approval from others.

Avoiding Gossip and Complaining

The second lesson I've learned is to avoid engaging in gossip or complaining. I've found that gossip can often lead to complaining, and I prefer to focus on conversations that foster growth and solutions. I once had a friend who constantly complained, and I challenged them to take steps to change their situation.

Looking for Possibilities in Problems

The third lesson I've learned is to look for possibilities in problems and use resources to find solutions. I recommend a children's book called "What Do You Do with a Problem?" that beautifully illustrates this concept.

Living for the Future

I've also learned the importance of focusing on the future and striving for a happy and healthy life. My 98-year-old grandmother is a testament to this, and I aspire to have a life as fulfilling as hers.

Consuming and Creating Quality Content

Another significant lesson I've learned is the importance of consuming and creating quality content. What we take in with our eyes and ears can shape our actions and words. Be mindful of the people you surround yourself with and the media you consume.

Belonging in Any Room

I've often struggled with feeling like I belong in any room I enter. But I've learned that it's important to be brave and uncomfortable in order to become my future self. It's not up to others to decide if I belong or not.

Being Intentional

Being intentional is another lesson I've learned this year. It's important to add value and provide support rather than hiding or procrastinating.

Celebrating Progress

Lastly, I've learned the importance of celebrating progress, both big and small. I encourage my clients to celebrate their achievements, no matter how small, as it signifies growth.

As we move into the new year, I encourage you all to set extraordinary goals, avoid gossip, look for possibilities in problems, live for the future, consume and create quality content, believe in your belonging, be intentional, and celebrate your progress. Here's to a year of growth and transformation!
