$50M in deals still can't erase the sound of metal bullet shells hitting the concrete as I ran home as fast as I could. I had to find a way out...
Growing up I moved 18 times trying to avoid all the problems that come with living on the wrong side of the tracks.
Abandoned by my father at 3 and then by my adopted father at 7. I spent most of my youth hiding from this place of fear, shame, confusion, and anger.
I was playing defense. I was playing not to lose. I was holding on tight.
Are you holding on tight?
My life changed when I discovered sports.
It taught me that whatever my life was going to be, it was up to me.
I decided to play to win.
As my love for sports grew so did my love for sales. They were the same game - a challenge.
I sold candy at school recess.
I sold landscaping services.
I sold basketball cards.
I sold athletic shoes.
I sold door-to-door.
Sales taught me to focus on the process, not the result.
I was playing to win.
At my first professional sales job, I spent 12 hours a day making 300 cold calls for years.
I became comfortable with the thing I was most uncomfortable with: Rejection.
I began to let go of my tight grip.
However I didn't have effortless success until:
- I stopped trying harder & following what everyone else in the office was doing grinding away.
Instead I found a path of least resistance by creating win-win-win strategic partnerships.
I began breaking company sales records without trying but I still felt empty.
At that moment, I knew I was playing to win, but I was playing the wrong game.
I was playing the employee game.
I needed to play the entrepreneur game.
I needed to own 100% of my results and time.
I decided to play offense & started my own finance business.
This path gave me financial, time and location freedom to make the world my office.
Even with this freedom, I still felt something was missing.
Sure I created the life and business of my dreams but what about helping others do the same?
I decided to completely let go and help others as a coach & consultant to driven entrepreneurs & visionary leaders who want to make a greater impact in their own lives and the lives of the people they serve.
So now, I play, to play.
My journey has taught me that it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from.
All that matters is that you decide to be a Creator instead of a Victim.
Everything changed once I decided to play this game.
Do you want to play?
